New Jersey has many great public gardens to visit. Perhaps that is why they call NJ the Garden State. During the late 19th century and early 20th century NJ was home to many of the nations first millionares. There are huge estates in Bergen, Morris, and Somerset counties. Many of these NJ estates had elaborate gardens that are now maintained by local, state, or federal park commissions.
A visit to a public garden in NJ can be a great way to enjoy the outdors. Most garens have free admission. Many of New Jersey's public gardens have special events including lectures, concerts, craft fairs, and festivals. So come on out and visit a NJ public garden.
